Roadway was founded in 1930 by Carroll Roush, a former Civics teacher at North High, and "Chick" Morrison. Later that year, Carroll's brother Galen joined the company and became the dynamic force that forged the modern Roadway Express. Originally called R&M Transportation, the company was formed to move tires from Akron, OH to St. Louis, MO. The current corporate headquarters on Gorge Blvd was completed and the company moved from its Park St offices in 1962. With over 1,000 employees locally and approximately 28,000 worldwide, Roadway is a leader in its industry and has constantly strived to develop innovative systems to improve the transportation of freight and equipment to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico with export services to 66 countries and 6 continents.

The Howe Family Web site - www.howefamily.com
The Howe family has long standing connections to the North Hill and Cuyahoga Falls area. Like many of the early settlers of the area Lucius Howe came from Connecticut. He was born 11 July 1808 in Canaan, CT, married in 1830, and came to Ohio in 1833. Eventually he acquired land at what is now the southeast corner of the intersection of Howe Road and Home Avenue. His name appears on the 1874 Tallmadge Township map as the owner of a large parcel of land at what is now occupied by the Giant Eagle Grocery Store and a large part of the parking lot and the adjoining Plaza at Chapel Hill. Lucius' great grandson Charles O. Howe was born in 1913 and he married Dorothy Maybelle France in 1937. Dorothy and her family moved into an old house that stood on land that is now occupied by the Route 8 Expressway near the Evangel Temple on Dan Street. Visit the Howe Family Site to learn the story of The Old House written by James R. Howe. Browse this well thought out site further to learn more about the Howe family.

St. Martha's Church & School www.saintmarthaparish.org - 300 E Tallmadge Ave
On January 19, 1919, the most Reverend John Farrelly established a new Parish on North Hill, naming Rev. John A. McKeever as the founding Pastor. Originally a part of Saint Vincents Parish the newly formed Parish would be named in honor of Saint Martha. By 1923, the parish had added a school and a new building for the church. The cornerstone for the school was laid in 1920 and was built entirely by the men of the parish. Enrollment at the school peaked in 1959 with 1,007 students. A gymnasium annex was added in the 1950s and named after Monsignor Frey a former pastor of the the church. Take a look at all of this info and much more at this comprehensive site.
