Brandon Maurice Crandall

Our beloved Gentle Giant Brandon Maurice Crandall, 28, departed this earth to be with our Heavenly Father on October 18, 2007.

He graduated from North Senior High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from the University of Cincinnati. Brandon was employed as a Detention Officer for the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center. He was an aviate sports fan and served as Assistant to the Owner of the Cuyahoga Falls Cougars, an Instructor with Say Yes to Tennis, and Computer Trainer with the Akron Urban League. Service was at the heart of Brandon, lending his many gifts and talents as a Volunteer for Americorps VISTA program.

Brandon was preceded in death by grandmother, Marjorie I. Crandall; great-grandmother, Lydia Crandall, Willie Bell Mason; great-grandfather, Samuel A. Crandall; great aunts, Marion T. Hall, Helen E. Arnold; great uncles, Samuel (Barudi) Crandall and Russell H. Crandall. He is survived by his loving mother, Kimberly A. Crandall; father, Stanley Butler; grandfathers, Simmie Thurmon, Maurice (Vivian) Butler; uncles, Melvin Flowers, James Flowers, Eric Crandall; James, Larry, Kenneth, Michael and Lorenzo Butler; aunts, Diane Gamble, Brenda Miller, Dianna and Christina Butler; great aunts, Constance P. Evans and Virginia Partridge; great uncle, Caleb Thurman; stepbrothers, Christopher Lamb, Maurice and Marcus Butler; stepsister, Shanear Butler; close cousins, Anthony (Stephanie) Flowers and Dionne Flowers; special cousins, Imani, Ihyanna, Antoinette and Deja. Also left to mourn his passing is Betty (Howard) Banks, James Flowers Jr., Adrienne McGill, Tyrone Barkley, Darnell Griffin, Melvin Curtis McCullum, Lannetta (Andre) Knotts and a host of other family and friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 327 Cuyahoga St., Akron, Ohio 44310. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to 294 Turner St., Akron, Ohio 44304.
