Earl W. Neff

Earl W. Neff, 87, passed away May 8, 2008.

Born in Akron on March 5, 1921, Earl lived on North Hill for most of his life, moving to Bath in 1972. He was a graduate of Akron's North High School and The Ohio State University School of Architecture. He served his country in World War II as a Navy fighter pilot stationed aboard the USS Lexington in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. as an architect. Earl was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman. He was a long time member of North Akron Kiwanis and the Goodyear Wingfoot Flying Club.

Earl will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary Ruth of 61 years; children, Thomas (Claudia), Christine Moriarty Bedell (David), Jeanne Weimer (Larry), John (Wendy), Laura Branigan (Terry); grandchildren Adam, Amy, Brian, Kelly (Todd), Kathleen, Miranda, Daniel, Michelle, Katelyn, Andrew, Colin, Kaira; and great-granddaughter, Taylor; brothers, Richard (Kathy), Gerald (Donna), Kenneth; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents and brother, Ervin.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, 44333, with Father Steven Brunovsky officiating. Inurnment at Moore's Chapel Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383 and the U.S. Navy. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to North Akron Kiwanis, 877 N. Main St., Akron 44310 or St. Hilary Catholic Church, Fairlawn.
