Genevieve
(McKoski) Koneff
Genevieve (McKoski) Koneff, 92, went to the Lord on February 3, 2008.
Born in Akron, Genevieve lived in the area all of her life. She was a graduate of North High School. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grand-mother, God and her family were the center of her life.
She and her husband John were dedicated to each other for 60 years and are now happily reunited. Genevieve cared for and lovingly ministered to John daily for the last five years of his life.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and John McKoski.
Her three children and their spouses, John (Jean), Carol (Tom) Kayser and Mary (Jorge), cherished her loving and kind maternal nature and knew she was always there for them.
She helped raise and nurture her eight grandchildren, Julie, Danealle Delorenzo, Scott, Heather Rerdon, Sean, Robyn Huber, Patrick and Chad Kayser. Seven of them lived next door to her and shared in each others lives for 15 years and one, who lived in New York, looked forward to going to Grandma's house to feel her unconditional love. Even her 12 great-grand-children shared a special bond with her as she anticipated interacting with and caring for them throughout her life.
As a life long member of St. Hedwig and then St. Martha parishes, she chaired many committees and projects for the good of the church and its renovations. She also worked tirelessly for the parish school and the children's benefit. She sang in the church choir and was available to many in the parish and community who needed help and support. She was truly a remarkable woman and a role model of dedication to God and family. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral Mass honoring her life will be celebrated 11 a.m.
on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at St. Martha Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., with
Father Mike Matusz officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
