Grace M. Wilcox, 92, formerly of Loudonville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Country Pointe Care Center, New Pittsburg, after a three-month illness.
She was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Weymouth to Elno and Mattie (Buckingham) Tiernan. She grew up in Akron and was a 1932 graduate of Akron North High School. Mrs. Wilcox worked in a law office until her marriage on Nov. 28, 1935. She and her husband maintained dairy farms in the Beebetown, Burbank and Nashville areas for many years. Mrs. Wilcox moved to Loudonville in 1986 after her husbands death, and worked as a clerk in the mayors office until retiring in 2000. She was responsible for the majority of the research for the restoration of the fountain in Loudonvilles Central Park, as well as background for the Loudonville swimming pool. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, listening to music, watching sports on television and visiting with her family.
Mrs. Wilcox is survived by her children, Kathy (Ken) Landes of Wooster, Paul E. of Rittman, John J. of Frankfort, Ind., and Becky (Randy) Kemper of Nashville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death on Nov. 23, 1986, by her husband, Paul A.; her parents; daughter, Pat (Homer) Cartwright; grandson, Kelly Landes; brother, Hylon Tiernan; and sisters, Nellie Lowe, Bessie Fisk and Mildred Tiernan.Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, 123 N. Market St., Loudonville. Adrian Bud Coates will officiate.
Burial: Congress Cemetery. Pastor Christopher Cottrel will officiate.
Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
