Henry Nivins

On Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Henry "Hank'' Nivins, was granted eternal rest.

He was born in Akron on Sept. 10, 1920, to Walter and Jennie Nivins, both immigrants from Poland. He graduated from North High School in 1938. Hank was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater from 1942-1945. He enjoyed traveling to his Army-Air Force reunions in recent years. He retired from Mechanical Mold and Machine Co. and was employed at Bil-Jac Foods.

Hank served with the Granger Volunteer Fire Department and was a 4-H adviser. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance 1099, the Polish Legion of American Veterans and the VFW. He enjoyed gardening, horse shows and the Cleveland Indians. He was very devoted to following the activities of his grandchildren who brought him much joy.

Hank is survived by his loving wife, Helen J. (Krzykowski); devoted daughters, Johna (Jerry) Large and Julie (Ray C.) Kelly, both of Medina; beloved grandchildren, Katie and Beth Large and Michael and Erin Kelly; and his dear sister, Eleanor (Tyrus L.) White, also survives.

Mass of Christian burial: 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 3100 S. Weymouth Road, Medina.
Hank's final resting place will be Granger Fairview Cemetery. Visiting hours: 7 to 9 p.m. today at Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1236 Weathervane Lane, #300C, Akron 44313, or to the Kidney Foundation, 1889 Indian Hills Trail, Akron 44313.
Hank's love of life was evident in everything he did. We ask that you remember him with love in his heart, a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends, but always in our hearts.
