B. Mier
Jean B. Mier, 88, of Akron died March 21, 2008. Born September 14, 1919, Jean Merlitti was a graduate of St. Vincent High School and St. John Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career offered her an opportunity to work at St. Thomas Hospital, Babcox & Wilcox and Jean was one of the first nurses to join the Visiting Nurse Service. She married Peter L. (Pete) Mier on September 1, 1951 and retired from nursing shortly thereafter to raise her three sons. She was an active member of St. Anthony Church, and actively involved with St. Anthony's Parent Teacher's Union, the St. Monica Society, and the Archbishop Hoban High School Mother's Club. She lived the majority of her life in the North Hill community and recently moved to the independent living section of the Village at St. Edward in Fairlawn. Mrs. Mier is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Palma Merlitti; brothers, Dominic, Henry and Arthur; and her late husband, Pete. She will be sadly missed by her family including brother, Anthony (Roberta) of Kirkland, Washington; sister, Doris (Enrique) Bermudez of Miami, Florida; and her sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Joanne of Scottsdale, Arizona, Richard and Debbie of Naperville, Illinois and Robert and Sharon of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott (Melissa), Jeff, Angela, Christina and Nick; great-granddaughter, Molly Kate; and sister-in-law, Loretta Arconti (Joe) of Cuyahoga Falls; Jean also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 25 from 4 to 8
P.M. at the Ciriello & Carr Falls Chapel, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 26 at 9:30 A.M.
at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Entombment at Northlawn Cemetery Mausoleum
will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St.
Anthony's Church, Interval Brotherhood Home or the Archbishop Hoban High
School Scholarship Fund. |
