P. "Pat" Brady
Lawrence P. "Pat" Brady, 75, loving husband of Rosaleen Brady; and devoted father of Glenn, Cecilia, Emmet and Matthew; passed away May 23, 2008 after a long battle with a heart and COPD condition. Born July 20, 1932, to E. Emmet "Toots" and Ethel (Kalaher) Brady, Pat grew up in North Hill, Akron as the youngest of 12 children. He attended St. Martha's Grade School, St. Mary's High School, John Carroll University and graduated from Kent State University in 1961 with a BS degree in Business-Transportation. During the Korean War, Pat enlisted in the Air Force, serving in the U.S. and France as a technical flight instructor. He spent most of his career in the automotive world, primarily as a wholesale customer and distribution representative for cars, tires and automotive supplies. Pat worked in Michigan and Ohio, for International Harvester, Ford Motor Company, AutoLite, Firestone and Goodyear. Pat was devoted to his family and his home. As a do-it-yourselfer, he did most of his own home repairs and always had an improvement project going. He was "tender heart" and taught his children to love all of God's creatures, especially the little ones. He was one of the "Good Guys". Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Ethel; baby daughter, Bridget; brothers, Fr. Bernard "Bun", Fr. Leo Patrick, CP "Ned", John, Bill and Tom; sisters, Rosemary (Madden), Helen (Connolly), Regina "Jean" (Paul); brothers-in-law, Bernie, Dick, Frank, Henry "Hank", Tom, and Glenn McEnany; nieces, Terese and Marianne; and nephews, Michael and Jamie. He is survived by his wife of 42 years and four children; sisters, Mary (Dennis), Margaret Mary "Peg" (Kempel), and Grace Schreiner-Dunn; brothers-in-law, Richard Kempel and recently, Jack Dunn; sisters-in-law Janelle (Brady), Nora (Brady) and Ruth McEnany. Pat also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at
the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). Mass of Christian Burial
will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, followed
by interment at Oakwood Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may
be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service or to the Fr. McIntyre
Educational Fund at Immaculate Heart of Mary Grade School. |
