Ruth M. Warner (Steiner)

Ruth M. Warner, 95, of Copley, Ohio, passed away on March 18, 2008.

Ruth was born in Fulton, Alabama, on November 2, 1912. After moving to Ohio, Ruth was baptized and confirmed at the Avon Street Reformed Church, now known as Bethany United Church of Christ.

Ruth graduated from North High School and Hammel Business College. She received special training while serving as a WAVE with the United States Navy during World War II. While in the Navy, she served as Navy Personnel in charge of the Yard Pass Office in Pensacola, Florida.

Ruth and her husband, Raymond G. Warner, auctioneer, owned Warner Auction Gallery in Ravenna, Ohio for many years. Ruth and her husband moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1976. Ruth was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Women's Club, the Eastern Star, the Akron and Scottsdale La Sertoma, and the Akron and Scottsdale Women's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army. She served each of these organizations as President. She became a member of the Salvation Army in 1959.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Lena Steiner; brother, Raymond Steiner; sister, Hazel Blake; nieces, Suzanne Leiby and Linda Steiner. Ruth leaves her devoted husband of 51 years, Raymond G. Warner; her beloved nephew, Daniel Steiner (Carla) of Copley, Ohio; nieces, Donna McPherson (Chuk) of Largo, Florida, Beverly Carey (William) of Diamond Bar, California, and Kimberly Pillitiere (Joe) of Coventry, Ohio; brother-in-law, Paul Warner (Barbara); sister-in-law, Lucille Thompson (Tom). She also leaves many great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends who were all dear to her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on Friday, March 21, 2008, with Rev. Stephen Gehlert officiating. Private burial will be held prior to the service where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 281. Cremation has taken place.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses, aides, doctors and volunteers at Hospice who provided excellent care and devoted attention to Ruth.
