Joseph Wojno
Stanley Joseph Wojno, 90, of Somers, Conn., died on Monday, February 25, 2008. He was born in Akron, Ohio, the oldest son of the late Julius H. and Walentyna Korzen-iowska Wojno. Stanley was a graduate of North High School. He attended the University of Akron, The American International College in Springfield, Mass., and graduated from Air Command and Staff School in Montgomery, Ala. Stanley was a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and former Commander of the Air Force Reserve Base at Bradley Field, in Windsor Locks, Conn. During World War II, he served as a transport pilot in the China, Burma, and India Operation. As a result of his brave efforts during the War, The Republic of China honored Stanley in 1994 with commendation and Chinese Air Force Wings. In 1988, he served as president of the Somers Rotary Club. Stanley is survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary H. Wojno, Jean Wojno, and Virginia Wojno-Forney, all of Akron; a brother-in-law, Ralph Limpach, of New Bern, N.C., and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Stanley J. Wojno, Jr.; four brothers, Walter, Roman, Karl, and George; and two sisters, Mary Buffington and Joan Limpach. Funeral services will be private, with burial at Holy
Cross Cemetery, Akron, Ohio. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers,
