Vandalia Moats

Vandalia Lucinda Moats ("Mimi") passed away on January 2, 2008 at the age of 92.

She was born on March 1, 1915 in Akron, Ohio, and was a lifetime resident of the area. She was the first baby born at Peoples Hospital, now known as Akron General Hospital. Van was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, St. Anne's Guild, North Hill AARP, and Stonehedge Bowling Leagues. She also worked with the Board of Elections for seveal years and was a staunch Republican.

Van was preceded in death by husband, Charlie Moats; parents, Alvan and Grace; son-in-law, Jim Klett; daughter-in-law, Mary Moats; and grandson-in-law, Mark Trevorrow. She is survived by son, John ("Bud") Moats of Akron; daughter, Gale Klett of Akron; grandchildren, Linda Trevorrow of Munroe Falls, Vic Klett of Akron, Jim (Francine) Klett of Akron, Dennis (Holly) Moats of Stow, and Kevin Moats of Akron; Van is also survived by great-grandchildren, Juliann and Laura Trevorrow, and Katie, Genna, and Ashley Moats.

Calling hours for Van will be Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls at Third St. one block North of Portage Trail. A Memorial service will be held Monday 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 765 Thayer St. Akron, Ohio 44310. Inurnment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
