In 1836, Dr. Eliakim Crosby began purchasing land on both sides of the Cuyahoga River from a point near the present Prospect St observation bridge in Cuyahoga Falls to the junction of the Little Cuyahoga River and then following the approximate course of Cuyahoga Street to Howard Street. These purchases included a large portion of "North Hill". Part of his purchases included the Wise farm. Maybe some Wise descendants are still around and could offer some additional info.

An aerial photo that was taken in the late 1920's or early 1930's shows a view of the Gorge Dam looking back towards the Ohio Edison power plant, the old Riverview Amusement Park, and the Roseland dance hall. The park and the dance hall occupied the site of the present parking lot to the Gorge Metropolitan Park on the Cuyahoga Falls side. The "North Hill" side that is visible shows Riverside Drive, Magnolia, Clifton, Linden, and a barely visible Drexel Ave. This part of "North Hill" is a portion of the Riverside Park Allotment that was originally laid out by the Summit Land Company in 1910. The principal owner or one of the partners was a Mr. Brodbeck. A large portion of the land here was owned by the Brodbeck's. In between Clifton and Linden near Riverside Drive there was a baseball field that was known as Brodbeck Field by all of the kids that played there. According to Roy Harris, who grew up in the old house that used to sit at the top of the hill in front of Jackson School Across Clifton Ave from Brodbeck Field sits a lone house which is the only one visible except for a couple of houses near the inersection of Drexel Ave and Riverside Drive. Any additional info concerning this area at that time would be appreciated.
